The best and worst driving experiences.

For a lot of us, driving is something of a mixed blessing. It can be enjoyable and is certainly very useful, but there are a number of downsides too, and some of these become more of a trouble the older you get too. There are a number of aspects to driving which I don’t care for at all, and a number which are absolutely fine or even fun. Finding that balance can be hard, however, and it is something which is important to look at in order to understand fully the best and worst of driving a car. In this post, I’ll go through some of these, and discuss how they affect the experience of driving each in turn.

The Costs

First of all, one of the least favourable aspects of driving a car has to be the costs involved, and this is something that can be frustrating for a long time and for a lot of people. There are a number of costs to be considered, and sometimes it is highly stressful not quite knowing how to keep those costs down. I try to drive in a manner which is as fuel-efficient as I can maange, so that I at least do not have to worry about the fuel costs being too high, but even so that is often hard to get right too. Then there is the insurance, which is obviously necessary – but fortunately, I have often found the best car insurance rates just by shopping around or using comparison services. Another main cost is any repairs that ever need doing, and the best way to avoid those is to take good care of the car on a daily basis to begin with.

The Experience

Not everyone enjoys driving for its own sake, but I happen to, and this does help massively when it comes to having to do it a lot. The experience of driving can be hugely enjoyable, and it is something which in its own way even has the occasional therapeutic moment too. It is easier to enjoy it if you are doing something to make it even more fun as well, and there are many ways to do that. That could just mean putting some music on as you drive, or making sure to just sit and enjoy the ride. In any case, I often find that it is an enjoyable experience, and this somewhat makes up for some of the less favourable aspects of having and operating a vehicle on the roads.

Safety

Something that is always going to be a top concern is, of course, safety, and this is a matter which we all need to think about as best as we can. Focusing on safety in whatever way possibly ensures that driving is less worrying, more fun, and that we are more likely to survive and live well. Clearly, it’s hugely important, and there is no such thing as driving too safely. But it’s something that can sometimes be surprisingly hard to do, and that can be a little frustrating at times.
