There are two ways you can live life to the extremes. Well, there are more than that if you wanted to be pedantic, but bear with us a little. The first extreme is living with health as a chain. You do not indulge in anything, you simply only choose a hobby if it’s completely healthy for you, and you feel terrible if you snack. You’re always on the latest health craze, sometimes working out twice in a day. You might be healthy sure, but at what cost? Are you enjoying it, or is it obsession?
The other extreme is living unhealthily. Not paying attention to your heart rate, your cardio adaption, your general sense of comfort in your body. It’s eating all the baked goods you make within an afternoon or indulging in cigarettes and alcohol.
Then there’s a third, middle way. The center. This is where you take care of yourself, but aren’t too worried if you eat some cake, or go on a food tour with your spouse, or spend a weekend in Venice drinking gorgeous wine. Then, after indulging, you work out and pay all that off.
If you can meet those two things, which most people do – you deserve to indulge a little. So let’s recommend how and why you might choose to:
Great Food & Drink
Don’t just indulge, make an artistic interest out of your indulgence. For example, why not visit three of the best restaurants in your area? There might be a long waiting list, and that can only add to the excitement. It might also give you time to save funding to visit these places. In the meantime, you might decide to try new world cuisine yourself. Try and cook authentic and beautiful food from Asia or the Meditarranean. And to wash it all down, why not become familiar with wine? We have written an excellent guide on how to involve yourself with this here. Building a wine bar using storage from the Wine Corner can help you submerge beautifully into this hobby, and help you feel truly supported and interested in your renewed hobby and passion. That sounds pretty worthwhile to us.
The Fine Arts
Why not visit the theatre or opera in your local area? Less and less people seem to go to the theatre, when in reality, it can be a much better show than the latest silly blockbuster. See real actors, excellent in their craft, give a performance of different plays. Try to follow the works of Brecht, or old Shakespeare plays, or, if you can stomach it, Artaud. Visit fine art museums. When you give yourself a little time to ponder these things, even if you’ve never before, you might actually find a real taste for it.
Take A Vacation You Haven’t Before
Taking a vacation, one completely centred around your comfort, might be something worthwhile after your hiking adventures and all the places you have seen. Heading on a long cruise, one that lasts for a month, could be a great time to celebrate retirement and have time to really feel pampered throughout your journey.
With these tips, we inspired to indulge yourself well. You deserve it.
